Fields of Research
Advancing knowledge for regenerative transformation.
Our research redefines how we understand and interact with the systems that sustain life — from materials and infrastructure to policy, governance, and culture.
At the Institut of Regenerative Development, we work across disciplines to generate actionable insights that enable environmental restoration, social equity, and systemic resilience. Our projects bridge science, design, and practice to turn evidence into transformation.

We investigate the physical, social, and institutional systems that shape how we build, grow, and govern. Our research connects local knowledge and global policy to accelerate the transition toward regenerative economies and built environments.

01
Regenerative Materials & Construction Systems
We explore the future of sustainable and biobased materials, circular construction, and low-carbon infrastructures. Our work examines how design innovation and policy can enable buildings and cities that repair ecological systems, with particular focus on rammed-earth and mineral cycles, circular design and material reuse, biobased composites, local supply chains, and metrics for embodied carbon and ecological performance.
02
Water, Food & Regenerative Landscapes
This area investigates how regenerative agriculture, water management, and ecological restoration intersect to sustain resilient communities. Our research addresses water-sensitive urban design and watershed management, soil regeneration and agroecological systems, rural–urban food networks, and the role of blue-green infrastructure in enhancing climate resilience.

03
Policy, Governance &
Economic Transition
We develop frameworks for equitable and circular economies, regenerative governance, and evidence-based decision-making. Research in this theme explores climate adaptation and governance innovation, digital infrastructure and environmental data reconciliation, regenerative finance and just transition, as well as urban policy and socio-ecological resilience.
04
Culture, Education &
Systems Change
This theme focuses on how learning, leadership, and culture drive transformation. We investigate pedagogies for regenerative practice, leadership and capacity building, cultural narratives of repair and renewal, and systems thinking approaches that support collective intelligence and societal transformation.
